racquetball made it's debut on the Canary Islands with the
first tournament being held in Fuerteventura
this month. Plans for the real courts are underway. The
Canary Islands are one of the 17 the autonomous communities
of Spain. |

European Racquetball set to Welcome Sweden to the ERF
 | The European Racquetball community will welcome Sweden as a member of the European Racquetball Federation very shortly. Over the past few months contact has been made with the Kista Centre in Stockholm. A new Swedish Racquetball Federation is now being set up and hopefully a team will represent Sweden at the World Racquetball Championships in Kingscourt, Ireland from August 1st - 10th 2008

Busy Schedule and Successful weekend for Ayten

| Combining two sports, squash and racquetball is not easy but for Istanbul`s Ayten Kececi(pictured right) its never a problem. Ayten played in both the squash and racquetball competitions at the Maydrom Open in Istanbul on Friday 4th April and then flew to Hamburg the following day where she played in the German Open. Back to Istanbul on Monday in time to win both the finals of the squash and racquetball competitions. Well Done Ayten!

Klippel wins another German Open
 | Germany`s Martin Klippel proved his pedigree when he won the German Open in Hamburg for the 6th occasion. In the final he defeated old rival Trevor Meyer 15-9, 9-15, 11-5. The Womens Open Singles was won by German National Champion Yvonne Kortes who defeated Renata Hartman in the final. The Mens Doubles Champions are Joachim Loof and Trevor Meyer. The Mens A Singles was won by Edwin Schipper(HOL) while Kevin Goulet(USA) was the Mens B Singles winner |

Ovieda & Kececi win in Istanbul
 | Carlos Ovieda (Catalonia) and Ayten Kececi(Turkey) were in the winners at the Istanbul Open. Ovieda defeated Peter Radowski od Poland to win the Mens Singles while Kececi defeated Feliz Limon to win the Mens Singles. Further success for Ayten Kececi as she also the won the Womens Squash Tournament which was held also in Hillside Sports club in Istanbul |

Montserrat and Kortes victors at 3rd Italian Open

| Catalonia`s Victor Montserrat(left) and Germany's Yvonne Kortes defended their singles titles at the 2008 Italian Open in Brembate/Bergamo last weekend. Players from 7 countries competed in another great European major event. Current European Champion Montserrat defeated Carlos Oviedo(Catalonia) recent winner of the French Open 15-7, 15-3 while Yvonne Kortes finished a tough final against Barcelona's Elisabeth Consegal 15-11, 15-14.
